Do you remember that commercial where the guy sits down in his leather lounge chair with the remote control to his t.v. in hand, turns on the surround sound, and all of a sudden extreme amounts of power & energy begin to pour out from the speakers? So much so, that it begins to push the man AND his chair backwards towards the wall. Well, THAT is the kind of energy that oozes from Stephanie Alva
a life-changing spirit and passion.
Born in West Covina, CA into a single parent household, Stephanie had to grow up very quickly, and was given large amounts of responsibility at an extremely young age. It was her tough upbringing, along with the life lessons she learned from her mother and grandmother that helped her develop a sense of responsibility and an eagerness to help others. Even as a child, Stephanie's personality was magnetic. The kids, and in some cases even their parents, seemed to be drawn to her. She was always able to help the people around her tap into their gifts and talents.
In junior high school, Stephanie discovered a passion for both broadcast and written journalism. She became the head Anchorwoman for her school's weekly news program, where she developed different segments that were designed to help students become better able to accomplish their goals. Her innovative ideas won her an award for Excellence in Leadership. Stephanie continued towards her goals throughout high school by participating in Leadership, volleyball, and basketball. She also engaged in community service, and even participated in and won runner up in the Miss T.E.E.N. Los Angeles County be pageant. She became the first person in her family to be accepted into a major university, San Diego State, where she also received a full academic scholarship.
Although she was honored, Stephanie didn't feel like college was where she belonged so she turned down the scholarship to pursue her music career. She was quickly asked to become a member of The Gospel Gangstas, one of the forefathers of Christian rap. She was immediately signed and began performing and touring the country, working with artists such as Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, & Crystal Lewis. One of Stephanie's favorite parts of each performance was at the end of the show when they were able to speak to their fans. She had a unique ability to look at the problems and issues that people would talk to her about and present them with a solution, as well as instill in them the idea that they were enough, just as they were, and that they were capable of greatness. She quickly became a fan favorite. It was then that she knew that her purpose was to help and inspire others.
After touring with the group for close to 2 years, Stephanie decided to leave the music business and begin pursuing her vision of touching others lives. As it does, life started to happen, and she ended up getting a 9 to 5 job and her dreams were put on the back burner. Her Grandmother had a series of health issues and it became imperative that Stephanie become her primary caregiver. She cared for the woman who helped raise her until she passed away, January 17, 2002. This event shook Stephanie to her very core. Her Grandmother was like her mother. She was the one person whom Stephanie had always depended on for guidance. On her deathbed, Stephanie made her Grandma two promises: 1) To finish losing the excess weight that she had gained and 2.) To become what she was born to be. With an unquenchable flame in her spirit, Stephanie began to search for how to live her purpose.
A series of inexplicable events began to occur in Stephanie's life that always seemed to place her in the right place, at the exact right time. She began writing for several blogs, including a VH1 spinoff blog where she had the opportunity to interview cast members from various reality television shows. She also hosted her own BlogTalk Radio Show, "The L-Down", which quickly became one of Blog Talks top rated shows. This is where she met Solomon Heyman AKA "Mr. Wise". She helped him to win a spot on VH1s hit reality show, "I Love New York 2, and he asked her to become his Personal Manager. Within weeks, Stephanie had organized his company, (Wise Owl Music), started him a clothing line, secured interviews and appearances, and got several meetings with major recording labels. She quickly began to pick up other clients once word spread about her ability to make something happen out of nothing. She has worked with David Otunga AKA Punk (VH1s I Love New York 2), Misfit Dior (VH1s The White Rapper Show), Persia (VH1s The White Rapper Show & Miss Rap Supreme), Byata (VH1s Miss Rap Supreme), Big Regg (MTV's Jackass & The Dr. Steve-O Show), Cowin Mills (2008 Olympian, Beijing) just to name a few.
Although Stephanie was successful as a Personal Manager, she knew that there was something more she should be doing. And then, tragedy struck. She lost her house and was forced into homelessness. Nobody knew that she was showing up on the red carpet with her beaming smile and when it was over, she was sleeping in her car on the streets. In an effort to try to change her situation, she began learning about the power of positive thinking, positive affirmations, visualization, and meditation. She started to grow spiritually and unfailingly stuck to the belief that if she did her part, the Universe would open up and begin to work with her. Being true to her word, Stephanie kept her promise to her Grandmother by losing the excess weight she had gained. To date, she has lost 110lbs and is a brand new woman, inside and out! Her faith paid off and she got back up on her feet and was lead to do a 7 Day Mental & Spiritual Cleanse.
During the 7 day retreat, Stephanie received the idea to utilize all of her talents and become a Life Coach and Motivational Speaker. !
In December, 2009, she founded My Life Keys, LLC and like magic, all of the pieces of the puzzle began to fall into place. Through a series of miraculous events, she met Tavaghn "Montster" Monts, (Vice-President, My Life Keys,) and Madeline Smith, (COO, My Life Keys,) and together, they began building the company up piece by piece. She also started reaching out to people via Twitter, and giving them the hope that she herself once needed in order to live. Every day, you can find Stephanie motivating the masses on Twitter and inspiring us all to live our best lives and to discover and live in our purpose. She is also currently recording several positive affirmation CD's, writing Positive Affirmation books, as well as working on her first novel. Believing that if we build our children up from the beginning, they will accomplish everything they put their hands to do, she also started a non-profit organization called My Life Keys Mentoring Program where she plans to offer one-on-one mentoring, Life Coaching for kids & teens, and a summer camp where kids ages 5-18 can come to be inspired to greatness!!
Meeting Stephanie is an experience. It's not really something that you can describe with words. She is a passionate creator; an innovative, fiery woman with an energy that can only be described as contagious. She has this uncanny ability, no matter how bad your situation may be, to convince you that it is ALL working together for your higher good and that if you can just look beyond the pain of it all, there is a beautiful rainbow just waiting for you to admire and acknowledge it. She will always give you more than anything you can imagine or anticipate. She is predictably unpredictable. Once you have been in her presence, you will never be the same
